Working late on your computer or checking Facebook, Instagram, emails, or Twitter also resets the body’s diurnal rhythms and can drastically alter sleep quality. This reduced sleep quality is associated with many of the negatives already mentioned, and also with stress, gut microbiome disturbances, and an increased desire to snack and overeat.

Note: There are apps for Mac, Android, iOS, and PC that help to and reduce the most stimulating blue light from your device.

If you absolutely must use your phone, tablet or computer at night try one of these. I use the ‘Twilight’ App, available for Android at https://sites.google.com/site/twilight4android and F.Lux, available for PC, Mac, Linux and iOS: https://justgetflux.com
