For most people dairy is a healthy addition to the diet. As already discussed, full-fat dairy is linked to improved health outcomes overall, and reviews of the scientific literature show that the inclusion of dairy in weight-loss diets significantly reduces weight, body fat and improves lean mass.48, 49 Dairy is also linked to improved outcomes in type-2 diabetes50, 51 and high dairy consumption improves insulin resistance without negatively impacting body weight or cardiometabolic markers.52

BUT, dairy is also a common allergen, and there appears to be a rising incidence of milk protein intolerance and allergy.53

The scientific evidence suggests that overall, dairy is healthy and anti-inflammatory, BUT it might be pro-inflammatory for those with autoimmune and inflammatory conditions, or underlying allergies to dairy proteins.54-58
