Both Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) and lemon juice are time-honoured naturopathic remedies to promote digestion and improve the natural processes of detoxification in the liver. The old-timers suggest that the sour nature of these drinks help to kick-start your digestive processes and encourage the production of gastric enzymes. More recent evidence from both animal and human studies suggests that vinegar may help to reduce markers of cardiometabolic risk such as triglycerides (fats in the blood), and, help improve ‘good’ (HDL) cholesterol along with aiding stability of blood glucose after meals,8 and increase insulin sensitivity in both diabetic and non-diabetic people.9
In the morning, have either 2 Tbsp. of ACV in water or ½ a lemon squeezed with plenty of water to aid ketogenesis, blood sugar control and digestion.
