Some foods wouldn’t serve your health, physique and performance if you ate them all the time. But the occasional treat won’t upset your progress. In fact, having one or two treats a week can help you to mentally relax and feel like you are having some ‘downtime’. Food is so very important for our mental, emotional and physical wellbeing and when we allow ourselves to eat what I like to call ‘foods for the soul’, we honour that.
Above all, don’t feel guilty about having these treats. Remember that they are part of the plan and if you do ‘most things right, most of the time’ you will get optimal results. Reread that… Most things right… not all things right, all the time! Use this to reward yourself, but also be sure to make sure it a positive, powerful, planned choice, not simply a resignation when you are feeling overwhelmed. Remember to enjoy it, and to view that meal as a part of your process, not a deviation from it.
