Earlier hours of sleep ARE much better for preserving mood, cognition, and physical performance, so instead of sleeping in, try to get to bed earlier. I have noticed, in my clinical practice, that clients can effectively get two to three times the benefit of the same amount of ‘sleep-in’ by going to bed earlier. In other words, 30 minutes earlier to bed is like having an hour and a half sleep in!
Try going to sleep ½ an hour earlier to see if it positively improves your waking energy levels and mood and always try to be in bed and asleep well before midnight.
